Pet Adoption:
Find a Loving Companion

Open your heart and home to a pet in need. Explore adoptable animals on Long Island waiting for a safe haven, a fresh start, and a family to call their own.

This is Mia

I rescued her from a backyard breeder who only wanted her so that he can make money from selling her. But Mia was rejected from the breeder because she was the runt. She was the smallest and showed no meanness or personality, according to the breeder. Mia was deemed worthless. How wrong they were. My roommate heard about Mia and her situation, so we went to see her, with the intention of giving her a new home with us. We bought her home and she absolutely flourished immediately! All she needed was love and provision. She was only eleven months old when we got her. Now Mia is three years old and just the sweetest little girl. I gave Mia everything she needed and everything she wanted, like duck jerkey, her favorite treat. My life has changed dramatically and I can no longer provide Mia a home, as I will be homeless as of the 1st of August, next month. The reason that I am reaching out at this late hour is because everyone and every organization that I was told would take Mia is either full or only helping residents of their town. I was hopeful of three organizations that told me for sure that they would help, so I was holding on to three promises of fosters. Two said that they got an emergency foster and backed out. The other changed their mind and did not even show up to a meet and greet. The town of Brookhaven could not help. They sent me two long lists of resources. Not one was helpful, either because of no vacancies or town restrictions. I myself am working with an organization called Options for Community Living. They are helping to secure housing for me, but it can take six months to place me in an apartment. I am desperate for Mia's sake. Please help if you can. I would rather be homeless than have Mia be homeless. That little girl is the most loyal friend anyone can ever have. I can faithfully provide food and supplies for her needs.

Mia is a spayed three year old pitbull terrier.

She was born on Valentines day, which explains why she is 100% a love bug.

She is up to date on all of her vaccines and boosters.

She is properly groomed.

Very well behaved.

Gets along great with people, kids and other dogs.

Loves walks and staying home.

She stares at deer like she wants to play with them and is curious of turkey and wants to say hi to them.

She is a professional cuddle buddy and will never turn down belly rubs.
