How can I help the homeless on Long Island?


Helping homeless Long Island residents in Suffolk County, can have a significant impact on the lives of those experiencing homelessness. Here are some ways you can get involved:

Volunteer your time: The Homeless Longisland Outreach Organization relies heavily on volunteers to provide essential services such as clothing donations and distribution, case management, outreach in woods, out reach in campsites, parking lots, and to offer companionship, fund-raising, and write our monthly news letter. Please contact us to inquire about volunteer opportunities that match your skills and interests.


Donate essential items: Homeless individuals often lack access to basic necessities like toiletries, hygiene products, and warm clothing. Organize a donation drive at your workplace, school, or community center to collect these items. Click on the link to see what items are needed for the homeless.

Advocate for policies that address homelessness:

Do you have specialized skills or expertise? Are you a lawyer? Consider offering pro bono services to homeless Long Islanders.

Like and share our posts and blogs on social media. By doing so, the algorithms bring us closer to the first page of the Google search engine. The closer we are, the more calls we get and the more we can help. The call we get may save a life.

Help with special projects: Homeless long island. Will in the near future have ongoing projects that require assistance, such as sorting donations, organizing events, or maintaining our facility. Volunteer your time to help with these projects.

Support the homeless: Offer support to individuals and families experiencing homelessness by providing childcare, transportation assistance, or help with finding stable housing.

Remember, even small acts of kindness can make a big difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness. By getting involved in your community, you can help provide hope and support to those who need it most.

We are faith-based.

We spread the gospel to all who will listen, and we find that talking to the homeless about Jesus brings them hope and salvation. Also, in the name of Jesus, by his grace, we can get the homeless off the streets faster.

An intercessory prayer team is needed.

We are looking for a prayer team. To pray for us as we go about helping the homeless.

Report the Homeless — Help Us Help Them

If you see someone who appears homeless, sleeping outside, in a car, or in unsafe conditions—let us know. Your report could be the first step in connecting them with shelter, food, medical care, and long-term housing solutions.

  • Location (cross streets, landmarks, address) 

  • Date and Time spotted

  • Description (age range, gender, visible needs, photo if possible)

  • If they're alone or with others?

  • Any immediate concerns (weather danger, health condition, etc.)
