Unlocking the Secrets to Safe Parking and Comfortable Car Living

Safe parking solutions for someone living in their car include:

1. Utilizing designated overnight parking areas such as rest stops, truck stops, and campgrounds. The welcoming center is between exits 51-52 eastbound on Dix Hills, on the Long Island expressway in Dix Hills. Is open 24/7, 365 days a year.

2. Seeking permission to park in church parking lots or on private property.

3. Parking in hospital parking lots. Has been done successfully by people we know. There is a lot of activity, and you blend in.

4. Parking in well-lit areas with high visibility to deter potential threats.

5. Surfing the web for apps or websites that provide information on safe parking locations for people living in their cars.

To make life easier while living in your car, consider the following tips:

1. Organize your belongings to maximize space and keep essentials easily accessible.

2. Invest in storage containers or organizers to keep your car tidy and clutter-free.

3. Utilize window shades or curtains for privacy and to block out light.

4. Invest in a comfortable sleeping arrangement, such as a foam mattress or sleeping pad.

5. Keep hygiene supplies on hand for regular grooming and cleanliness.

6. Maintain a routine for meals, exercise, and personal care to promote overall well-being.

7. Stay connected with support networks such as friends, family, or community resources for assistance and guidance.

12. Bugs are always an issue, on Long Island we do not have many bugs to address, of course mosquitoes are always an issue, the other big concern is flying cockroaches. People complain about these bugs when they park in a parking lot where there is restaurants and trees. In any case in the hot summer you need to sleep with your windows closed, to keep these buggers out. Unfortunately you can not put screens over your windows for other safety reasons, the only two options is to run the car with the air conditioning on, or invest in a battery operated fan that charges via USB. You can get these fans pretty cheap for under $30.00, and they will run for about 12 hours on one charge.
