What are ways you can help Homeless-Long-Island SUFFOLK county outreach?

There are many wonderful ways to help Homeless Long Island outreach! Here are some ideas categorized by the type of support you can offer:

Direct Support:

• Volunteer: This is a fantastic way to make a tangible difference, like sorting through and organizing donations, organizing events, or providing companionship and support to individuals experiencing homelessness. • Donate: Every bit helps! We are promoting the Hero’s for the homeless now, Consider donating items that are often needed by homeless individuals, such as warm clothing, toiletries, backpacks, blankets, or gift cards for essential needs. You can see a complete list of items needed on our website. We have Amazon and Walmart wishlists along with a bulk backpack link on https://www.homelesslongisland.org/donate page. You can also make one time donations that can help us  purchase supplies.

• Organize a donation drive: Gather your community, family and or friends or fellow workers and collect needed items for homelesslongisland.  This can also be a great way to raise awareness about homelessness and inspire others to get involved.

Advocacy and Awareness:

• Spread the word: Talk to your friends, family, and colleagues about the organization and the work we do. Share our website or social media pages and encourage others to donate or volunteer.

• Help create events: we need organizers to create fundraising events, educational workshops, or awareness campaigns. Along with attend these events, this is a great way to show your support.

Other ways to contribute:

• Offer professional skills: If you have expertise in a particular area, grant writing, marketing, or graphic design? We need your expertise.

• Pray: You want to help but unfortunately circumstances make it impossible to get around? You’re most needed. We need prayer warriors to pray for the homeless, also pray for the homelesslongisland team. As we go out to where the homeless are and offer them love, hope, along with Gods grace and mercy. Your prayers are needed.

• Are you a lawyer? we also need Lawyers, please save your required pro-se work for helping a homeless person with mild legal issues. 

• Simply be kind: Treat individuals experiencing homelessness with respect and compassion. A friendly smile or conversation can make a big difference in someone's day.
