What Steps Should I Take to Find a Missing Homeless Loved One?


Finding a homeless loved one who is missing can be a challenging and emotional process. Here are steps you can take and resources that may help in your search:


1. Contact Local Authorities

- Report Missing Person: File a missing persons report with local law enforcement. Provide them with as much detail as possible, including physical descriptions, clothing last worn, and any known locations they frequent.

2. Search Shelters and Services

- Local Outreach Programs: Contact organizations dedicated to serving the homeless community. Outreach workers often have insight and can assist in locating individuals.


5. Monitor Hospitals and Jails

- Hospitals: Check with local hospitals to see if your loved one has been admitted. Provide them with identifying information.

- Jails: Contact local jails or detention centers in case your loved one has been arrested.



6. Use Missing Person Databases

- National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs): This is a national database that helps locate missing persons. You can search for your loved one or report them missing.

- Local Missing Persons Organizations: Research local nonprofits and organizations that specialize in missing persons cases.
